Whats Up Nails St. Patrick's Day Stencils

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm popping in for a quick Saturday post before any St. Patrick's Day festivities.  A few days ago I got an envelope from Whats Up Nails with lots of stencils and plates including some St. Paddy's Day stencils.  I had time to use some of them this week so I thought I should share them before the big day is over!  As always, I had really good luck with their stencils.  I would recommend almost all of their stencils.

The Digit-al Dozen/26 Great Nail Art Ideas Does French With A Twist

Hey there!  We've come to the end of The Digit-al Dozen's Stamping Week which just so happens to fall on the same day at 26 Great Nail Art Ideas theme of "French With A Twist".  French manicures are traditionally freehanded or use vinyls (at least as far as my limited knowledge goes) so my twist was that I stamped the french tip here.  I will say that plates with french tips combined with clear stampers make french manis WAY more appealing to me.  When I've tried to do french manicures in the past, I ended up with sort of blobby looking tips because I use too much white so it gets's really not pretty.  Since stamping using a really thin amount of polish, the end doesn't get thick. Unfortunately it also means it doesn't wear very well but it got me through a day at work which is good enough for me!

Moonflower Polish Spring Holos and Vampy Cremes Collections

Press  Sample

Hey there!  A couple weeks ago I posted about Sunset, the Moonflower Polish shade created to celebrate her shop's first anniversary.   Today I have swatches of the upcoming Spring Holos collection AND the recent Vampy Cremes collection.  These two collections really show how talented Nadia is.  She's come up with two great sets of stamping polish that both work so easily but that are so different in their finish.  I really like them both but there's something particularly stunning about the spring set.  They're holo and kind of shifty and metallic.  That being said, there will never be anything better than cremes for nail art so I'm so happy to have both collections.  Stick around to read all about them all.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Stamping - Powder Stamping

Hey there!  As much as I love stamping, sometimes I forget about some of the cool techniques we do to get fun images on our nails.  So for the Digit-al Dozen's stamping week, I decided each day was going to show a different technique.  Here I have a relatively new one - stamping with powders with just a side of a gradient.  I find the Magic Shifting Powders from Whats Up Nails to be the best on the markets so that's what I used here.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Stamping - Layered Stamping

Hey there!  I know, I know, it's way too late to be blogging tonight but I just have to get my Day 3 Digit-al Dozen Stamping Week post up before I go to bed.  Why am I late? We wanted to go for pizza for Pi Day but it was so crazy busy that we ended up out for dinner at Nando's.  It was fun but all I could think of is all the blogging I've been falling behind on and all the items I've received in the last two days to review.  It's gonna be a BUSY weekend coming up!  But for today's stamping mani I did some layered stamping using Clear Jelly Stamper's plate and Big Bling.  I was hoping it would be spring-like this week but, while it is warmer, it's still snow-covered so spring certainly isn't here yet!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Stamping - Gradient Stamping

Hey there!  It's Day 2 of the Digit-al Dozen's stamping week.  The technique I picked for today is a super easy one...yet it took me two tries to get the mani I pictured in my head.  Here I used gradient stamping for both the base AND the image, both on the same handy!.  I knew I wanted a whole rainbow of color but for the first try (which you can see at the end of this post) I used holo stamping polish and all that sparkle hid the color differences.  So I did it again the next time and ended up with exactly what I wanted.

The Digit-al Dozen does Stamping - Leadlighting

Hey there!  Can you believe it's already time for a new Digit-al Dozen week?  The last one just ended a couple weeks ago but the timing worked out that this is the week for March.  I'm not complaining since this month's theme makes me so happy.  This week we're all doing stamping!  There's quite a few stampers in the group so I think a bunch of us are pretty pleased with it.  Rather than just show 5 random stamped manis of mine, I tried to come up with 5 different stamping techniques for my designs this week, starting with leadlighting.  Normally leadlighting is done with sheer polish over a light base (otherwise the color won't show) but I tried it with some shimmery polish that I bought from Born Pretty Store.  It's practically clear on its own but it's super pretty over black.  I'm so happy with how these turned out!

Nail Crazies Unite - Rainbow Water Marble

Hey there!  This week's Nail Crazies Unite prompt is Rainbow Water Marble so of course I had to bust out my beloved pipe dream polish cremes.  Ever since they decided to shut down, I think I've been avoiding using them knowing that there's no way to ever get more.  But that's dumb, right?  What's the point of nail polish that doesn't get used.  So I used them and I certainly still love them.  But after a few minutes I got bored of a plain water marble and decided to do some negative space stamping over them to make them even least in my opinion...

Bundle Monster Botanicals Collection

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I'm back today with another stamping plate review.  The Bundle Monster Botanicals Collection is perfect for spring but absolutely not your typical spring collection.  The surest sign of spring to be is the plants coming back to life after a winter under the snow (at least that's the case here) and this collection is dedicated to all things plants.  The images lean more towards the realistic than the cartoon-ish.  There's some of the prettiest florals I've ever seen on stamping plates here.  So pretty, in fact, that I couldn't resist doing two reverse stamping manis which definitely turned out to be my favourites.  I do love me some colourful nail art!

UberChic Beauty Welcome Spring Stamping Plate Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Just a few days ago, UberChic Beauty released it's Welcome Spring stamping plate, only the second spring-themed plate to date.  I received it on Friday and tried out a couple manis with it this weekend.  I really like UberChic's spring plates because it's not only spring or Easter but a mix of both.  It's kind of like one-stop shopping for the season!

Moonflower Polish Anniversary Polish - Sunset

Press  Sample

Hey there!  This afternoon I have a celebratory post for one of the best new(ish) brands out there.  Moonflower Polish (the brain child of Nadia of MamaHeartsPolish) is one year old!  To celebrate, she has come up with a special polish called Sunset.  It started with a franken of an old drugstore polish back in the day but since she has all sorts of nail polish skillz now, she figured out how to make it from scratch AND make it opaque enough to stamp.  I played with it a bit last week, by swatching it, stamping it and stamping with it.  Stick around and you can see all three!.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas - Made On A Mat

Hey there!  The design I have for you today is possibly the most commented on (in real life) mani I've done in ages.  Keep in mind, these were only commented on by my coworkers who are normally pretty blind to my nail polish hobby.  I think I know why they noticed them which I'll explain in a second.  This week's 26 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt was Made On A Mat/Plastic.  I'd been dying to do some fluid nail art like the amazing Kyong Lee seems to have mastered.  I followed her video and came up with some pretty cool "cells".

Lina Nail Art Supplies Make Your Mark 07, Spring 02 and Totally Negative 02 Stamping Plate Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  A few weeks ago Lina Nail Art Supplies released a whole pile of new plates, a whopping eight of them which is a really big release.  She was kind enough to send me three of them and all three showed me once again why I'm so drawn to her plates.  She comes up with such creative, gorgeous images.  Lina has quite a few series of plates and I picked the releases my top three series to try out this time, Make Your Mark 07, Four Seasons - Spring 02 and Totally Negative 02.  I was feeling inspired so I did three full manis with each plate so this is pretty representative of what I've been wearing out and about since receiving them.

Cici & Sisi Zodiac and Fairtales Acrylic Stamping Plate Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  This evening I have a review of a couple sets of plates from Cici & Sisi.  My first Cici & Sisi plates (which I purchased so many years ago) were the typical stainless steel plates but for the last couple years most (if not all) of the plates they have released have been acrylic.  I was sent the set of six Zodiac-themed plates and the two Fairytale-themed plates, focused on Alice In Wonderland and Little Red Riding Home.  I've done eight manis that you can read all about below, along with my thoughts on these plates.

3D Snow Globe Nail Art

Hey there!  Since it's the last day of February and some of you lovely folks may live in places that actually get spring weather in March, I thought I should post a mani I did a couple months ago before snow is forgotten about for the year.  I was partially inspired by Simply Nailogical's 3D snow globe nails.  She made something more like a real snowglobe while mine are fully solid.  I originally did these for the 3D/embellished prompt for the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt but went with some blinged out nails instead.  But I did enjoy wearing these (yup, I did both hands though my right hand was VERY messy) so I wanted to share them anyway.

Bundle Monster Pencil Stamper/Clean Up Brush Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Today I have a review of an innovative new product from Bundle Monster - the Dual-ended Pencil Stamper/Clean Up Brush.  It's just that.  One end has a small, squishy stamper head; the other has an acetone-safe clean up brush.  If you do a lot of stamping of smaller, individual images, this is absolutely a must-have as it makes placement easy AND you'll always have a clean up brush handy.  I don't know about anyone else but it seems like that is the one item I'm constantly misplacing.  The brush end comes with a cap so it won't get ruined and there's an extra stamper head, which are nice little extras to have.

UberChic Beauty Got Chevron 02 Stamping Plate Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Happy Monday to everybody!  I think my brain is still stuck in weekend-mode but I'll do my best to put together a coherent blog post.  I recently received the UberChic Beauty Got Chevron 02 stamping plate to review and my official review is pretty simple - it's great!  I never would've guessed there were so many chevron-variations possible but Brittany has come up with an entire second plate of all-thing zig zag.  You can tell I really enjoyed this plate because I've used it in 5 full manis since receiving it.

The Digit-al Dozen does Mythical Creatures - Dragons

Hey there!  To end off The Digit-al Dozen's Mythical Creatures week, we also have Nail Crazies Unite prompt of Red & Black Hobbies.  How can anyone combine such specific themes, you ask.  Well I managed to do it and ended up with my favourite mani of the week.  For my hobby, I chose reading.  I love reading, especially at the lake in the summers (I admit that I don't read nearly enough in winter).  I have read the Game of Thrones books and watched the show, sometimes repeatedly.  I also listened to the entire Binge Mode podcast series on it.  In other words, GoT takes enough time that it is also practically a hobby.  And there's DRAGONS!!!  Take that super specific prompts....combo'ed!

The Digit-al Dozen does Mythical Creatures - Fairies

Hey there!  It's the fourth day of The Digit-al Dozen's Mythical Creatures week and today is one I attempted twice and I'm still shaking my head at it.  Maybe it's because I think fairies are so cute and magical but I really only have a couple stamping plates with fairy images.  Unfortunately neither of my goes at this, turned out nearly as whimsical as I was hoping.  After these, I gave up.  It's as good a fairy mani as we're going to get from me this month.

The Digit-al Dozen does Mythical Creatures - Flying Pigs

Hey there!  For the third day of The Digit-al Dozen I have some nail art I never would've imagined doing - flying pigs.  Frequently when I'm trying to come up with ideas, I ask my sister to start listing off the first things she thinks of for a theme.  For this one, I already had my own list but I asked her anyway and amazingly we both thought of flying pigs.  What are the chances?  So of course I had to do it.  Thank goodness there is actually a flying pig image on one of the plates I have!

The Digit-al Dozen does Mythical Creatures - Phoenix

Hey there!  It's Day 2 of The Mythical Creatures week.  Today I channelled a former DD member, Cheyenne from CDB Nails and used her amazing fire mani as a base for some phoenix nail art.  I don't actually know very much about the phoenix except that I seem to really like them on my nails.  This isn't the first phoenix nails I've done and I'm sure it won't be the last.

The Digit-al Dozen does Mythical Creatures - Unicorns

Hey there!  It's a new Digit-al Dozen week...woohoo!  This month we're tackling Mythical Creatures. At first I didn't really love the prompt mostly because I couldn't really think 5 unique mythical creatures but I ended up really liking some of the designs I have for you this week.  Today's mani is one that I loved.  I have a feeling we'll see lots of unicorns this week and I can't wait.  I think these turned out really pretty.  I actually liked the base so much that I didn't want to cover it up but it had to be done.  I did take a photo before I stamped though so you can see it.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas - Love (but no pink or red)

Hey there!  Since it was Valentine's Day earlier this week, today's 26 Great Nail Art Ideas challenge was to do a love-themed mani but there was a twist.  No pink or red!  I have to admit that I do immediately think of pink and red when I think Valentine's so I liked this prompt.  But I did just realize that lots of my V-Day manis this year had different colors.  Yay me!

My Recent Valentine's Day Nail Stamping

Hey there!  Happy Valentine's Day to all the lovely folks out there!  I'm a single lady so I'm not celebrating, except to go out for beer and wings with one of my friends right away.  But I wanted to stop in and quickly post the Valentine's Day nail art I've been wearing over the last week or so, including my current mani (the first one I'm posting here).  It also happens to be the Nail Challenge Collaborative's Love month so there should be lots of love-themed mani in the links at the end of this for you to browse.  If you're curious about any of the products I used for mine, it's all down below.

Beauty Bigbang Nail Product Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  Today I have a quick review of a few nail art products from Beauty Bigbang.  If you haven't heard of them, they're a beauty company from overseas that carries a huge variety of products at really low prices.  Personally I've only tried the nail art products so I can't speak for it all but the nail art items are certainly worth the cost.  Shipping seems to take about 3-4 weeks which is much quicker than other companies I have ordered from.  Today I have some chameleon flakies, black chrome powder, a dual-ended gradient sponge tool and a stamping plate so it's a pretty varied post today.  I really enjoyed all of them and would happily recommend them all.  If you're interested in these or other Beauty Bigbang products, use the code "CLAWS" to receive 10% off your order.

Nail Crazies Unite - Anti-Valentine's Hearts

Hey there!  Since Valentine's Day is coming up but not everyone is necessarily fond of the day, the Nail Crazies Unite theme today is Anti Valentine's Hearts.  I wasn't actually sure how to combine hearts with the "anti" part of the prompt but black splatter always does the trick, right!  Since I've been loving bright colours lately, to stave off the winter dreariness, I did the hearts in a brightly-colored gradient.  It's actually a bit tough to see that they were hearts but they really were.

26 Great Nail Art Ideas - Black and Neon

Hey there!  Today's prompt for the 26 Great Nail Art Ideas prompt is Neon and Black, a combination I always love.  I used it as an opportunity to copycat a mani I saw last year that I fell in love with from Sam H Nails (now @samhnails2.0 on Instagram after some jerk hacked her account).  The combination of skulls with the cheery neon colors is awesome, isn't it?  And for once my camera decided to actually show some of the brightness that this mani had in real life (which for my camera is a small miracle)!

My Mani Box Subscription Box from Beautometry Review

Press  Sample

Hey there!  I have something new on my blog today!  My Mani Box is a subscription box from Beautometry which I think is a great idea.  Personally I'm a giant fan of grab bags of all sorts and this is sort of a grab bag for nail art!  Every month has a new theme.  I received December's box which was themed Kiss Me At Midnight (presumably to ring in the new year).  In my box was two MoYou London plates (you get to pick your size, regular or XL), a Ms Sparkle polish, Ribbits Stickits water decals and stencils and a Beautometry nail file.  I put use to all of them as you'll see.

The Digit-al Dozen does Birthdays - January 2018

Hey there!  Holy I am cutting it close to wishing my lovely friends Courtney and Brethil the happiest of birthdays.  But, if it counts for anything, I had a drink after work for you guys for your birthday instead of writing my blog post (bad blogger!).  To celebrate their birthdays they have chosen a very unique inspiration photo.  I don't think I've ever seen one with such different results.  It's fun!  Keep on reading to see their photo choice.
